About Us

About a year ago, my family woke up to the problem faced by uninsured people when they need medical care. My grandmother recently moved from India. She had visitor’s insurance and thought she was protected. During her stay with us, she had a minor medical emergency. One visit to the hospital resulted in bills over $30,000. Though she had insurance, the insurance company would not cover the bills.

This led us to look for resources and options for people who are uninsured to use to save money on health care.

One of my parent is a physician and the other is an engineer. We had access to a lot of people in the medical sector and to a lot of information about the various organizations. Yet, we soon discovered that getting the correct information was extremely difficult and time-consuming.

What started as a small family project, over time developed into a comprehensive resource book. We started getting lot of calls from friends and acquaintances who were in similar situations. We saw how useful this information was.

Over the summer, I decided to organize and publish this information so it could be widely and easily accessible for the people in the Greater Richmond Area in Virginia. After learning basic computer programming and website design, I called all these organizations to ensure accuracy of the information in this website.

I invite you to look at the various links and ideas in this website to save money in health care.
